CYN participates in COMEM as a full member

This years' European Youth Forum Council of Members (COMEM) was the first YFJ statutory meeting in which CYN obtained the right to vote and thus fully participate as a full member. The COMEM took place in Brussels, from 20 to 22 April, and CYN was represented by Marko Boko, Board Member for International Relations.

The meeting was opened by a public conference entitled “Quality Jobs for Youth: are we asking too much?” organized jointly by the European Economic and Social Committee and YFJ. The conference focused on solutions to the problems of high unemployment and lack of quality job placements, and asked the question: “Are pre-employment contracts and precarious jobs a threat or opportunity for young people?”

The European Youth Forum adopted a position paper on the Structured Dialogue, and a policy paper on New Media and Internet Governance. During the Progress Report, the Board gave updates on the Youth in Action initiative and encouraged member organisations to contact their respective politicians before the Council Meeting on 11th May to ask for a strong and independent Youth in Action programme. The Strategic Priorities for the next six years (2013 – 2018) were officially adopted.

The upcoming General Assembly was announced as well. It is to take place in November in Maribor - the European Youth and Culture Capital.
