Final conference of the project "Discrimination of youth@workplace" successfully carried out


Final conference of the project "Discrimination of youth@workplace" which was carried out during 2012 by the Croatian Youth Network in partnership with its member organizations Volunteers' Centre Osijek and Blank Film Incubator, took place in Zagreb on 28-29 January.
Opening speeches were given by Katarina Pavić, President of the Croatian Youth Network, Tena Šimonović Einwalter of the Ombudsman Office which is a key public entity in charge for combating discrimination in Croata, Maja Sporiš, Assistant to the Minister of Social Policy and Youth, and Mirando Mrsić, Minister of Labour and Pension System.
This was followed by a presentation of project outcomes and deliverables: documentary film "Uncomfortable position – different sides of the same story", presenting issues of youth discrimination in the labour market from the perspective of young people and employers. Other key deliverables, such as the first national research on the topic, training on discrimination targeting youth CSO representatives and handbook on how to combat youth discrimination in the labour market with special emphasis on role of volunteering; were presented to some 60 participants.
Final session was reserved for presentation of final conclusions and recommendations developed in the course of the action, which will be utilized in future advocacy work of CYN.
